Things you may want to know before getting in touch with us:

  • Do I need to be able to read sheet music?  We do use sheet music to work from but we also have recordings of each part provided by our MD so that is a really helpful way to learn the music if you are not able to read music.

  • Are auditions required? If so, what do they involve?  You won't need to audition when you first start, just have a go and see if you enjoy it.  Once you're settled in our MD will have a very informal and private short session with you to see which section your voice is best suited to.

  • Is attendance at every rehearsal expected?  Ideally, we would like everyone to attend as many of the rehearsals as they can so that we can be ready for our performances.

  • Will I be assigned a specific voice part (e.g., soprano, alto)?  Yes, once you have settled in you will know (with the help of our musical team) which section is best suited for your voice.  Some people try out each section before they decide what's right for them.

  • How many concerts or performances are held each year?  There's no fixed number.  We have a variety of formal and less formal concerts.  Have a look at the 'date' sections page here for an idea of our past events.

  • Is there a concert dress code or uniform? Yes, we have a 'uniform' that we wear for our more formal concerts but sometimes we wear more casual clothes (like our Welsh themed tops for St. Davids' day).  In rehearsals, anything goes!

  • Is there a membership fee or subscription cost? Our membership fees are £30 per term, so £120 per year.  New members are not expected to pay straight away; make sure you're happy and settled in with us first.
