Helen John
Musical Director

Helen joined the choir as Deputy Conductor  and chorister in 2017 and in 2025 was appointed Musical Director.

Singing, and in particular choral music, has always been Helen’s first love … musically speaking that is! After performing with an outstanding girls’ choir at Mynyddbach Comprehensive School and then with the West Glamorgan Youth Choir, where she often performed as a soloist, Helen went on to take ‘A’ Level music and then a Bachelor of Music Degree at UCC Cardiff.

Helen has taught music throughout her career, firstly as Head of Music at Pontarddulais Comprehensive and then for the West Glamorgan Music Service. She been a member of many choirs including the BBC Chorus, Swansea Bach Choir and now sings with the Swansea Philharmonic Choir. She has also taken numerous solo roles for local Amateur Dramatic Societies, most notable with Uplands Arts.
